Owl-Theme Pumpkin

Give a spooky appearance to your pumpkin with this free painting stencil. Carving is optional.

Step 1: Download the owl pattern and cut out the pattern. The pictured pumpkin was 10 inches [25.40 cm] tall and about 30 inches [76.2 cm] around. Resize the pattern on your printer or a photocopier to suit the size of your pumpkin.

Step 2: Tape the pattern to the pumpkin. Use a washable pen to trace around the pattern. Feel free to alter the pattern by adding design elements of your choice.

Step 3: To create the moon, use your pumpkin carving tools to carefully scrape off the pumpkin skin to reveal the light-colored pumpkin rind. Also carve out the owl’s eyes for a haunting glow.

Step 4: Using the black paint, fill in the owl, tree, and bats. Remove pattern.

Step 5: Place the stencilled pumpkin in a prominent place to scare away the ghouls and goblins.

Good to Know: The free pumpkin stencil will also work if you decide to fully carve out the moon.
