Super-Simple Book Ledge

Hang this easy-to-build ledge above a bed, over a desk, or anywhere you need extra, low-profile storage.

Stagger several of these book ledges along the wall next to a bed in place of a bedside table.

INSTRUCTIONS

A = 1/2″ x 2″ x 4′ [1.27 cm x 5.08 cm x 1.22 m] board

B = 1/2″ x 3″ x 4′ [1.27 cm x 7.62 cm x 1.22 m] board

C = 1/4″ x 3″ x 4′ [.64 cm x 7.62 cm x 1.22 m] board

Step 1: Finish the maple craft boards with a coat of stain. Let dry.

Step 2: Use tape to attach B board (bottom) at a 90-degree angle to A board (front).

Step 3: Using a level, align the L-shape brackets and attach them to the wall 36 inches [91.44 cm] apart.

Step 4: Center the bottom and front boards on the brackets and use screws to attach the bottom of the ledge to the brackets.

Step 5: Use tape to attach the C board (back) to the L-shape brackets to create the back of the ledge.
