Fine Wine Rack

With its easy construction and convenient storage, this wine rack will be the toast of your household.

Repurposed galvanized pipe hangers work in pairs to hold bottles of your favorite vintages with flair.

Step 1: For each bottle, you’ll need two galvanized pipe hangers — one small and one large. Replace the long screw in each hanger with a shorter machine screw and a nut.

Step 2: Cut the hangers to length. Measure how far you want each ring to project from the front of the rack, then allow a few centimetres for the straight end to wrap around the back panel.

Step 3: Cut the centre panel from a 1″×8″ [2.54 cm x 20.32 cm] board and cut two side panels from a 1″×2″ [2.54 cm x 5.08 cm]. Paint. Mark holes for each pair of hangers on the sides of the centre panel. Drill pilot holes.

Step 4: Attach the hangers to the sides of the centre panel with 1″ [2.54 cm] wood screws. Use pliers to bend the ends of the hangers onto the back. Secure ends with ½” [1.27 cm] wood screws.

Step 5: Cut two 1″×2″ [2.54 cm x 5.08 cm] braces to join the backs of the centre panel and side panels, one near the top and bottom. Using the front of the centre panel as a guide, screw the braces to the side panels.

Step 6: Turn the centre panel over and screw the middle parts of the braces to the back of the centre panel. It helps to stand the rack on end. Use a Hangman system to attach the finished rack to the wall.
